A new Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Inspired by Swedish Pole Vaulter Armand “Mondo” Duplantis

Quite literally an athlete at the top of his sport, Armand Duplantis the current World and Olympic champion, but on April 20th, he broke the World Record for the 8th time in his career, setting a new height of 6.24m. An ambassador of Omega since 2020, he has since claimed multiple World and European Championships titles, and won his first Olympic Games gold medal in Tokyo. It is time for Omega to pay tribute to his already impressive career, with a special edition of the AT 150m that elegantly blends the colours of the Swedish flag in its nautical attire. Mondo Duplantis’ watch is based on a classic of Omega, the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m Co-Axial Master Chronometer 41mm. A nice blend of casualness and robustness, this watch is here presented in stainless steel with the classic attributes of the collection – twisted “lyre” lugs, polished bezel and conical screwed crown. Despite the 41mm diameter and 13.2mm height, it remains relatively compact on the wrist, just under 48mm in length. What makes this Armand Duplantis edition special is the dial. While the blue surface is given a traditional opaline finish with horizontal stripes, the unique tributes to Mondo include a Seamaster name and quarter-hour numbers in yellow, as well as a yellow varnished seconds hand with a pole vault-inspired shape, featuring Super-LumiNova on top to represent the grip of the pole. All other elements of the dial are otherwise classic Aqua Terra. Inside the case, and under the sapphire caseback, is the calibre 8900.
